What nbn™ technology does ACN support?
ACN currently supports two types of technologies for nbn™:
- Fibre to the Curb (FTTC)
- Fibre to the Premises (FTTP)
- Fixed Wireless (FW)
- Fibre to the Basement (FTTB)
- Fibre to the Node (FTTN)
- Hybrid Fibre Coaxial (HFC)
What is Fibre to the Curb?
FTTC Connects fibre infrastructure from the telephone exchange to a small node/street cabinet. The existing copper infrastructure is then used from the node/cabinet to your home or business.
What is Fibre to the Premises?
FTTP is when you have fibre connection running directly into your home or business.
What is Fixed Wireless?
Using cellular technology to transmit signals to and from a small antenna fixed on the outside of a home or business, which is pointed directly towards a fixed wireless facility.
What is Fibre to the Basement?
With FTTB fibre optic cable is connected to a Main Distribution Frame (MDF) usually located in your building or basement. From there, the existing copper infrastructure is used to connect the service from the MDF to your premises.
What is Fibre to the Node?
FTTN makes use of fibre optic cable that runs from the exchange to nodes (also called cabinets) in your local area. The broadband is then delivered from these nodes to your premises via the existing copper cable.
What is Hybrid Fibre Coaxial?
Using network technology developed by the cable TV industry that allows two-way, high-speed broadband content (video, voice and data) to be delivered to the home using a combination of fibre and coaxial cable.
